Abstract

Indonesia as one of the developing countries faces many problems in economic development, such as unemployment, poverty and so on. The high number of unemployed people in Indonesia and the narrowing of employment opportunities make most of the population choose to migrate abroad to get a job or become Indonesian migrant workers (PMI). This study aims to determine how the influence of education, poverty, and unemployment on Indonesian migrant workers abroad in 2011-2021. Education variables are measured using the average length of schooling, poverty variables are measured using the number of poor people and unemployment variables are measured by open unemployment rates. This research was conducted in West Nusa Tenggara in 2 cities and 8 regencies, in the period 2011-2021. The research method uses panel data regression and is processed using stata14. In this study, the results obtained are that partially the education variable has an insignificant and negative influence on Indonesian migrant workers abroad in West Nusa Tenggara, while the poverty and unemployment variables have a significant and positive influence on Indonesian migrant workers abroad in West Nusa Tenggara. Simultaneously, education, poverty and unemployment significantly affect Indonesian migrant workers abroad in West Nusa Tenggara.
