Abstract

The study was conducted to explore eco-friendly antimicrobial finish extracted fromAzadirachata indica (A. Juss), Butea monosperma (Lam.) and Litchi chinensis (Gaetin) trees and todetermine its effect on aesthetic properties of 100% silk fabric. In aesthetic properties stiffness andsmoothness appearance were checked. These properties were checked bypre and post test applicationof antimicrobial finish by using ASTEM E2149 Shake Flask method. The AATCC standard testingmethods were used for checking aesthetic properties of fabric. It was observed that the antimicrobialfinish increased the aesthetic properties of 100% silk fabric and it made 89 % reduction in microbialgrowth up to 25 washes. The antimicrobial finish showed good result on silk fabric.
