Abstract
Objective To explore the effect of ear acupressure therapy combined with five element music therapy on preoperative anxiety in patients with percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) . Methods A total of 150 patients with selective PCI in Cardiovascular Department at Liaocheng People's Hospital of Shandong Province were recruited from May 2015 to May 2016. They were randomly divided into control group (n=75, routine preoperative instruction) and observation group (n=75, routine preoperative instruction + ear acupressure therapy combined with five element music therapy) . Anxiety of patients between two groups was evaluated with the Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAMA) . At the time, heart rates and blood pressure of patients were also measured between two groups. Results After intervention, the scores of dimensions (anxious mood, feeling of tension, fears, insomnia, cognitive function, depressive mood, behavior at interview) of HAMA and the total score of HAMA were (1.21±0.36) , (0.20±0.06) , (1.20±0.26) , (0.97±0.29) , (0.15±0.05) , (0.39±0.07) , (0.26±0.07) , (4.38±0.78) in observation group lower than those [ (1.49±0.61) , (0.49±0.12) , (1.39±0.51) , (1.21±0.37) , (0.26±0.06) , (0.59±0.19 ) , (0.53±0.08) , (5.96±1.08) ]in control group with significant differences (t=3.418, 2.809, 2.552, 2.935, 1.410, 1.875, 2.565, 3.874; P 0.05) . The heart rate, systolic pressure and diastolic pressure of patients in observation group [ (81.0±8.9) beats/min, (118.6±8.6) , (70.8±7.8) mmHg]were lower than those [ (86.8±8.6) beats/min, (130.6±8.7) , (82.6±6.7) mmHg]in control group with significant differences (P<0.05) . Conclusions Ear acupressure therapy combined with five element music therapy can effectively reduce preoperative anxiety in patients with PCI and ensure that vital sign of patients is steady. Key words: Anxiety; Percutaneous coronary intervention; Preoperative; Ear acupressure therapy; Five element music therapy
