Abstract

The dielectric characteristics of pure and dye-doped (aniline blue dye) nematic liquid crystals at room temperature by altering the bias voltage and frequency have been reported in the present work. The HP-4194A impedance gain phase analyser was used to assist with the measurements of the dielectric properties. It has been discovered that the dielectric constant and dielectric loss both drop when dye is doped in liquid crystal. When bias voltage is increased, it has also been found that the dielectric anisotropy grows quickly up to 6.0 V bias voltage, after which its increase steadily.
