Abstract

Summary We conducted a laboratory study in the east Texas Travis Peak sandstone, which contains a small but significant amount of fibrous illite, to determine properties of preserved cores compared with those of dried and resaturated cores. Results showed that the drying process significantly changed effective water permeability, capillary pressure behavior, and electrical properties but that effective gas permeability as a function of water saturation did not change.
