Abstract

This paper examines the effect of drainage height on concentration-dependent dispersion coefficient of propane in vapor extraction (Vapex) of heavy oil. For this purpose, Vapex experiments are carried out at 21°C using propane as a solvent at 0.689MPa pressure for three different drainage heights of the heavy oil medium. Subsequently, the concentration-dependent dispersion coefficients of propane are determined. The results show that the dispersion coefficient of propane (at all concentrations) in heavy oil increases with the drainage height.
