Abstract

Soot oxidation was studied using silver-zirconia catalysts doped with Y, La, Ce and Pr under a low concentration of O2, typical for gasoline direct injection engine conditions, in view of practical gasoline particulate filter application. The Ag/La-ZrO2 catalyst revealed the best catalyst performance for soot oxidation exhibiting a Tmax of 405 °C for a fresh sample and 420 °C after aging at 700 °C for 6 h. Additionally, the doped catalysts exhibited improved activity for co-oxidation of CO and C3H6. The Ag/ZrO2 catalyst benefited from doping via the synergy between silver particles and doped zirconia.
