Abstract

1. The PMR method enables the state of the ion pairs in the compounds Et3GeM (M=Li, Na, K, Rb, Cs) to be monitored from the change in the value of the internal chemical shift Δ of the protons of the ethyl group. 2. 2,2-Dimethylbutan-3-one reacts with Et3GeM with formation of the carbinol Et3Ge(tBu)MeCOH or the ambidentate enolate-anion [t-BuCOOH2]−M+, which is determined by the nature of the cation M and the solvent. 3. The transmetallation reaction has been studied of the compounds Et3GeM and Et3SiM, which is based on the replacement of a less electropositive alkali metal M by a more electropositive metal.
