Abstract

We investigated the influence of alkaline-earth oxides on the fusing and softening temperature, the nature of crystallization of opacifying compounds, and the properties of fusible titanium glazes. A series of glazes was made with oxides of different alkalineearth metals (Table i), whose content was varied from 1 to 10% (here and subsequently molar contents). The base consisted of glaze TA-I obtained from readily available materials and having the following chemical composition (%):70.26 Si02, 4.55 A1203, 3.35 B203, 6.00 CaO, 1.35 ZnO, 1.67 K20, 5.82 Na20 , and 7.00 TiO 2.
