Abstract

At disk ID region, clamping distortion leads to a significant increase in disk crown which in turn causes flying height fluctuation. At disk OD region, disk camber becomes a dominant factor in head flyability. A new parameter, the OD rolloff point, was defined as a disk OD surface geometry measurement, as compared with the conventional OD dub-off value.
