Abstract

Pot culture experiments were conducted on a sandy clay loam soil to study the effect of different sources (FYM, poultry manure, biocompost, pressmud, and SSP) on yield, phosphorus (P) uptake, percent P derived from sources (%Pdff), soil (%Pdfs), phosphorus use efficiency (PUE), and A value in maize and their residual effect on sunflower. The grain yield of maize was highest with SSP followed by poultry manure. However, grain yield of sunflower due to the residual effect of different P sources followed the order poultry manure > biocompost > FYM > pressmud > SSP > Control. Performance of P sources towards%Pdff in maize was highest in pressmud and lowest in FYM. In sunflower, poultry manure treatment recorded the highest%Pdff. The PUE in maize-sunflower sequence were 17.15% by maize, 10.40% by sunflower, and 27.55% by the cropping system as a whole.
