Abstract

Background: - Nutrition management of premature neonates is considered an essential and important part of their care. Proper preterm neonatal positioning is necessary for physiological stability and nutritional status of neonates. So this study aimed to evaluate the effect of different positions on gastric residual volume of preterm neonates in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Research design, Quasi experimental research design was utilized in this study. Sample. A purposive sample of (60) preterm neonates who meet the inclusion criteria at a NICU in Assiut University Children Hospital. Two tools were used to collect the necessary data, Simple questionnaire sheet and Gastric residual volume record sheet. Results of this study revealed that minimum gastric residual volume was prone (0.57±0.47) position and maximum gastric residual volume was supine (2.08±0.89) position. There was highly statistical significance difference (
