Abstract

Chipless RFID tag, whose specific conductor structure has unique scattering property to an incident electromagnetic wave, is a new kind of electronic card with no any integrated chips internally. Thus, poles of the chipless tag that used for tag recognition can be available through the scattering property by matrix pencil method. However, the accuracy of pole extraction, in general, is affected by many factors. The effect of lossless dielectric substrate, characterized by relative permittivity and thickness, on pole characteristic of folded dipole array chipless tag is mainly researched in the paper. Simulation result show that with the relative permittivity and thickness increase, frequency and damping factor of nature resonant pole decrease, leading the pole's distribution close to axis origin in the way of S shape-like curve gradually.
