Abstract

Laminated bamboo utilization as a building structure has been performed numerously, such as for beams and columns. Building structure elements require the proper connection design, for example, a glued-in rod as an innovative offer. To date, researches on the glued-in rod are limited to the pull-out parallel to the grain of laminated bamboo. Hence, it is necessary to research the pull-out of the glued-in rod embedded in the other direction. This study aimed to find the effect of threaded rod steel diameter and anchor length on pull-out strength, slip modulus, and damage type on the glued-in rod embedded in the radial to grain. The laminated bamboo test object was made in 100mm × 100mm × 120mm dimensions. The steel rod used a threaded rod in 8mm, 10mm, and 12mm diameters (d), and embedded lengths were 2.5d, 5.0d, 7.5d. The results showed that the diameter and anchor length influenced the pull-out strength and slip modulus. Larger threaded rod diameter and deeper anchor length produced higher pull-out strength and slip modulus. Most test objects experienced damage in the form of pulled laminated bamboo around the steel with brittle damage.
