Abstract

Parabolic trough solar concentrator is the most successful concentrated solar power system worldwide. Many studies are carried out to analyze its performances, which usually consider no deviation angle although this latter affects a lot the performances. This paper deals with the effect of deviation of the incidence angle on parabolic trough concentrator (PTC) performances. The effect is highlighted for two parabolic trough collector types, LS2 and ET-150 for which a comparison is performed, the coefficient of deviation angle having been determined considering the two dimensional model. While the thermal analysis is done using the one dimensional energy balanced model, the model used in this study is compared with two other models found in the published literature, the high relative error found being 0.5 %.
