Abstract

This study aims to investigate the effect of descriptive evaluation in reading and writing skills of students in the sixth grade of elementary schools in Tehran City on 2013-2014. The research method is descriptive-survey and statistical population is limited to male sixth grade students in area 9 Tehran City. The sample includes 200 students. The sample population has randomly chosen among 200 ones, 100 students with descriptive evaluation plan and 100 with non- descriptive evaluation plan. The researcher-made tests on two steps and four tests in reading Persian lessons, Farsi writing, composition and sixth grade elementary Persian spelling are used in order to collect the data. Results from the analysis of the data suggest that the academic achievement of the students with descriptive evaluation plan in reading and writing Farsi lessons has been more than the academic achievement of students with non- descriptive evaluation plan. The academic achievement of students with descriptive evaluation plan in composition and spelling Farsi lessons have been more than the academic achievement of students with non-descriptive evaluation plan.
