Abstract

1. The structure and mechanical properties of ionic coatings depends mainly on the specific discharge intensity of the substrate, and coating condensation rate. 2. Between the coating and substrate a transition zone forms whose size is governed by the deposition schedule. With a reduction in carbon content in the substrate and increase in glow discharge intensity the transition zone expands, and the ultimate breaking strength of ferrochromium condensates increases.
