Abstract

Objective To investigate the effect of Danshen ligustrazine and irbesartan on vascular endothelial function in patients with hypertension. Methods One hundred and twenty-four hypertensive patients were divided into observation group(n=62)and control group(n=62) by random table method. The control group were treated with irbesartan 10 mg/d, the observation group were treated with Danshen ligustrazine and irbesartan, and the treatment lasted for eight weeks. The blood pressure, blood lipid levels and vascular function of two groups before and after treatment were compared. Results The levels of SBP, DBP, endothelin (ET) of observation group were lower than those of the control group after treatments(P<0.05). The levels of endothelium-dependent vasodilation (FMD), nitric oxide (NO), endothelial NO synthase (eNOS) of observation group were higher than those of the control group (P<0.05). The incidences of myocardial infarction, arrhythmias, heart failure, stroke and other cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease of observation group were lower than those of the control group during one year follow-up (P<0.05). Conclusions Danshen ligustrazine and irbesartan can effectively lower blood pressure in hypertensive patients, improve vascular endothelial function and inflammation, and reduce the risk of cardiovascular complications. Key words: Danshen ligustrazine; Irbesartan; Hypertension; Vascular function
