Abstract

Both CCC and 2,4-D resulted in delaying the emergence of seedlings and decreasing the percentage of germination in corn. Similar results were obtained with sorghum when CCC was used, whereas 2,4-D inhibited seed germination completely. CCC and 2,4-D resulted in decreasing the height of corn plants whereas only cce decreased the height in sorghum. When higher concentration of both substances was used, growth was remarkably decreased for both corn and sorghum. eee and 2,4-D retarded tasseling and silking in corn, while only ece retarded heading in sorghum. Marked increase in grain yields for both corn and sorghum was obtained by eec at the concentrations of 25 and 50 ppm. On the other hand, 25 ppm 2,4-D resulted in increasing corn yield 5.5 % more than the controls.
