Abstract

In order to prove the feasibility of Cu for improving the tribological properties, the FeCoCrNiCux coatings were prepared on the SUS304 by laser cladding. In this research, the effects of Cu on the microstructure were characterized, and the tribological properties were investigated systematically. The results showed all the coatings are mainly composed of FCC solid solution, and the segregation of Cu/Ni appeared on the grain boundary and dendrite. The exceptional wear resistance of the FeCoCrNiCu coating is a result of its high work hardening capacity and ductility. At high temperature, the friction coefficient gradually decreased with the increase of Cu content. The reasons were reflected in the mechanical combination of hard and ductile phases, making the deformation layer obtained better strength and wear resistance.
