Abstract

In the present work, steady state performance parameters have been obtained for two-lobe journal bearing, operating with non-Newtonian lubricant. Krieger-Dougherty model for viscosity is used to find the effective viscosity for a given concentration of nanoparticle in base lubricant. Different steady state performance parameters are determined from solution of Reynolds equation modified for couple-stress model. Results indicate a significant increase in load carrying capacity and flow co-efficient while there is a decrease in friction variable.
