Abstract

Background: In mothers with Cerebral Palsy children,higher prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders areseen due torepetitive bending, lifting, and twisting activity while taking care of the child.Reduced coremuscle strength especiallyof Transverse Abdominis&Multifidusmuscle will lead to increase in low backpain and disability in this population. Hence, the purpose of this study was to find out the effect of CoreStability exercises on low Back pain and disability in mothers of Cerebral Palsy Children.Method: Thirty mothers with chronic low back pain who fulfilled the inclusion criteria were included inthe study. Core muscle strength was assessed using pressure Bio-Feedback, pain was measured using VisualAnalogue Scale and Disability was measured using Owestry Disability Index. Core stability exercises weregiven for 3 times a week for 6 weeks.Result: The result showedthat there was significant improvement in Core muscle strength, and reduction inpain and disability in patients with Chronic Low Back pain.Conclusion: The study concluded that there was significant improvement in the abdominal muscle strength,low back pain score and disability score post core stability exercises in mothers of cerebral palsy childrenhaving low back pain.
