Abstract

Developing eco-friendly nanocomposites with natural reinforcements has enormous demand in current industrial applications. Cordia obliqua willd nanoparticles were prepared by using ball milling and the particle size was analyzed. It was epoxidized via sol-gel technique for improving bonding of the particles by using epicholorohydrine. The nanocomposites were prepared by the incorporation of particles 0.5, 1, 2 and 4 wt% into epoxy by using liquid casting process. The characterization of the nanocomposites shows that good interactions between epoxy and nanoparticles. Mechanical properties such as tensile and impact strength and water absorption rate were shows that 2 wt% of the nanocomposites has better properties. The fracture surface morphology was analyzed by scanning electron microscope.
