Abstract

Abstract The effect of copper oxide on fast pyrolysis of enzymatic/mild acidolysis lignin (EMAL) isolate from moso bamboo were investigated under nitrogen and atmospheric pressure. The products distributions were closely linked with the addition of CuO. The experiment was set on a tubular reactor furnace at the addition of CuO by 1%, 3%, 5%, 10%, 15% based on the weight of EMAL. With the addition of about 5% CuO based on the weight of EMAL, the bio-oil yield reached to its highest level, and the amount of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon decreased obviously. Simultaneously, it increased the relative content of phenols. In gas products, CO and C 2 H 4 decreased obviously while H 2 , CH 4 , C 2 H 6 almost stayed the same.
