Abstract

The authors investigate the corrosion behavior of steels 12Kh18N10T, 03Kh18N11, 08Kh21N6M2T, 10Kh17N13M2T, 06KhN28MDT, and 03Kh21N21M4GB in contact with titanium VTL-0 in different corrosive media. The results of laboratory tests show the absence of the effect of titanium in the entire investigated range of values of the ratio of the surface areas on the corrosion rate (less than or equal to 0.02 g/(m/sup 2/ X h)) and the anodic current density (n) (ca 0.00045 A/cm/sup 2/) of steels 03Kh18N11 and 12Kh18N10T in 50% nitric acid and 03Kh21N21M4GB and 06KhN28MDT in 30% formic acid. During contact of titanium with lower alloy steels 10Kh17N13M2T and 08Kh21N6M2T in 30% formic acid, the authors observed a relation of the weight loss to the value of n which had an exponential nature and is described by an equation.
