Abstract

The effect of confinement in a quark-gluon plasma is described through a density dependent quark mass. It is shown that the equation of state resulting from such a description is characterized by a sound velocity which agrees remarkably well with the phenomenologically extracted values from hadronic collisions over a large range of temperatures.
