Abstract

In intermetallic compounds with singlet ground state the effect of conduction electrons on nuclear magnetism is studied. By eliminating the electronic freedom which carries the Van Vleck paramagnetism, the effective Hamiltonian is obtained, which describes a set of nuclear spins embedded in the electron sea with repulsive interaction. In terms of the susceptibility of the conduction electrons the effective Hamiltonian for nuclear spins is derived.
