Abstract

Objective To investigate the effect of comprehensive nursing on the recovery of nasal mucosa and the quality of life in patients with chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) after endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS). Methods 98 patients with CRS undergoing ESS in our hospital from January 2014 to January 2017 were randomly divided into control group and observation group, 49 cases in each group. The control group was given routine nursing, while the observation group was given comprehensive nursing on the basis of the control group. The scores of Lund-Kennedy and SNOT-20 before and after nursing, nursing satisfaction, and complications in the two groups were observed. Results The scores of polyps, edema, rhinorrhea, scarring, scab, and the total score of Lund-Kennedy in the two groups significantly decreased after nursing (P<0.05), and the scores of the above items in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). The scores of nasal symptoms, rhinosinusitis-related symptoms, sleep disorders, affective disorders, and the total score of SNOT-20 in the two groups significantly decreased after nursing (P<0.05), and the scores of the above items in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). The nursing satisfaction rate in the observation group was 100.00%, which was significantly higher than 87.76% in the control group (P<0.05). The incidence of postoperative complications was 4.08% in the observation group, which was significantly lower than 20.41% in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion The comprehensive nursing can effectively promote the recovery of nasal mucosa, improve the quality of life, and reduce the incidence of postoperative complications in patients with CRS after ESS.
