Abstract

Objective To investigate the effect of compound Duzheng tablet on delayed union of fracture and serum alkaline phosphatase (ALP). Methods A total of 93 patients with delayed union of fracture were randomly divided into treatment group (n=48) and control group (n=45). The patients in the control group were treated with open reduction, internal fixation and functional exercise if necessary. The patients in the treatment group were treated with compound Duzheng tablet based on the control group. Both groups were treated for 3 months. Before and after treatment, serum ALP concentration was measured by enzyme rate method in order to evaluate the clinical effect. Results After treatment, the total effective rate was 91.7%(44/48) in the treatment group and 73.3%(33/45) in the control group. The difference was statistically significant (χ2=4.269, P=0.039). The serum ALP level in the treatment group was significantly higher than that in the control group on the 15th days (142.48 ± 16.78 U/L vs. 113.30 ± 12.57 U/L; t=9.442, P<0.001) and the 30th days (178.67 ± 19.46 U/L vs. 135.74 ± 14.42 U/L; t=12.023, P<0.001). Conclusions The compound Duzheng tablet could increase serum ALP and promote fracture healing in patients with delayed union of fracture. Key words: Fractures, ununited; Compound Duzheng tablets; Alkaline phosphatase; Comparative effectiveness
