Abstract

The desulfurization capacities of CaO-SiO2-Al2O3-MgO-CaF2-BaO complex flux were determined experimentally at 1873 K (1600 °C), and the effects of composition on desulfurization abilities were analyzed using the method of quadratic orthogonal regression. The results suggested that the desulfurization rate decreased with an increasing ratio of Al2O3/CaO, and the addition of BaO and MgO to the flux improved the desulfurization capability. The increase of the CaF2 content improved the desulfurization effect for high MgO contents or BaO contents bearing slags.
