Abstract
Objective To investigate the clinical value of lamotrigine combined with sodium valproate on epilepsy in elderly patients after stroke. Methods Eighty-six elderly patients with secondary epilepsy after stroke were randomly divided into observation group and control group, with 43 cases in each group. The two groups were given routine treatment of stroke, and the control group was given sodium valproate treatment. On the basis of the treatment in the control group, the observation group was treated with lamotrigine treatment. The clinical efficacy, the frequency of epileptic seizures, the duration of epileptic seizures, the degree of neural function defect and the incidence of adverse reactions of the two groups were compared. Results The total effective rate of the observation group was higher than that of the control group(P 0.05). Conclusions Compared with sodium valproate, lamotrigine and sodium valproate has better effect on elderly patients after stroke secondary epilepsy, which can reduce the frequency of seizures, seizure duration, but also is conducive to the recovery of neurological function, and the medication is safe.
