Abstract

Objective To explore the effect of cognitive-behavior intervention on burden and positive feelings in caregivers of Alzheimer's disease (AD) patients. Methods 90 caregivers of AD patients were chosen by convenient sampling and were randomly divided into experimental group (45 cases) and control group (45 cases). Experimental group was given cognitive-behavior intervention, and control group was given conventional care. SF-12 health scale, caregivers burden scale and caregivers positive feelings scale were used to evaluate the effect of the intervention before and after 6 months. Results Before intervention, the SF-12 health sare, the burbenscore,the level of PAC were no significant difference betveen the two groups earegivers (P >0. 05). Total psychological score of SF-12 and positive feelings of the experimental group were significantly improved (P < 0. 05), but physical health and burden showed no statistically significant differences between two groups(P >0. 05). Conclusions The cognitive-behavior intervention has a positive effect on improving mental health and positive feelings in caregivers of AD patients.
