Abstract

In the present work, choline based ionic liquid, Cholinium ethanoate ([Chl][Eth]) has been synthesized and various thermophysical parameters for glycine and L-alanine in synthesized choline based IL have been calculated from density (ρ) and speed of sound (u) values at different concentrations and temperatures (288.15–318.15) K by keeping an interval of 10 K. Hepler constant is used to predict the structure maker/breaker behavior of solute in aqueous IL. The interaction coefficients have also been determined using the transfer volumes. To validate the results obtained from thermodynamic parameters, FT-IR spectroscopy has been carried out. The theoretical and experimental results were used to deduce the interactions present in the present ternary systems and effect of temperature and alkyl chain length on the measured parameters has also been discussed.
