Abstract

Reduction of high-grade barite powder with particles of active charcoal has been studied both in the absence and presence of catalysts. Catalysts that are known to enhance Bouduard reaction bring about corresponding improvements in the reduction rate of barite also. The conversion-time data have been analyzed by using a modified volume reaction model, and the effect of catalyts on kinetic parameters has been elucidated
