Abstract
The performance of a proton exchange membrane fuel cell is evaluated for Pt/carbon black and Pt supported on cup stacked carbon nanotubes (CSCNTs). The effect of spherical and tubular morphology of the catalyst support on the catalyst layer structure is evaluated. A detailed analysis of the contributions of different overpotentials on the performance is done. The improved performance of Pt/CSCNT catalyst in the high current density region is attributed to the improved catalyst structure because of tubular morphology of CSCNTs.
