Abstract

Objective To investigate the effects of carvedilol on the plasma brain natriuretic peptide( BNP)level and left heart function in patients with chronic heart failure and its clinical efficacy. Methods From August 2011 to Match 2013 ,64 patients with chronic heart failure were randomly divid-ed into observation group and control group, each group with 32 patients. Patients in the control group were treated with conventional therapy, and patients in the observation group were treated with carvedilol on the basis of conventional therapy. The left heart function, plasma BNP levels in the two groups before and after treatment, and the clinical effects were compared. Results After 6 months of treatment, the total effective rate was 78. 1% in the control group, and that was 93. 8% in the observation group, there was significant difference( P﹤0. 05 ). The plasma BNP,LVEDD,LVSDD levels in the two groups re-duced,but the LVEF level increased after 3,6 months of treatment(P﹤0. 05). The observation group was superior to the control group in decreasing the levels of BNP,LVEDD,LVSDD and elevating the lev-el of LVEF,there were significant differences(P﹤0. 05). Conclusions The clinical effect of carvedilol adjuvant therapy on chronic congestive heart failure is good,it can countermeasure the neuroendocrine ef-fectively and improve the left heart function and the prognosis of patients. Key words: Chronic heart failure Carvedilol Left heart function Brain natriuretic peptide
