Abstract
E-mail: jinhcho@mju.ac.krReceived April 28, 2014, Accepted June 3, 2014The effects of mechanical activation of carbon black on the processing and properties of butadiene nitrilerubber were studied. Mechanical activation of carbon black caused an improvement in the physical andmechanical properties of the butadiene-nitrile rubber, BNR-18AMN. The optimum activation time that wouldafford rubber with improved properties was established.Key Words : Carbon black, Butadiene-nitrile, Rubber, Mechanical activationIntroductionManufacturing of low-cost but high-quality rubber pro-ducts has continued to be a challenging but attractive taskgiven its potential benefits. One of the more popularmethods to control the physical and mechanical properties ofelastomeric materials is the use of dispersed fillers,
