Abstract

In the tricalcium aluminate—calcium lignosulfonate—water system, evidence has been obtained for the formation of a complex and precipitation of a highly basic calcium lignosulfonate. The hexagonal calcium aluminate hydrate as well as the cubic aluminate hydrate irreversibly adsorb calcium lignosulfonate. Adsorption results in changes of surface area, morphology, thermal behaviour and rate of interconversions.
