Abstract

One of the significant challenges in the meticulous field of photo-catalysis is to find an efficient eco-friendly photo-catalyst for the decomposition of organic pollutants under visible light irradiation. This paper explores for the first time optimization of the calcination temperature to accomplish best photocatalytic response of an eco-friendly photo-catalyst ‘turmeric roots powder’ for dyes de-coloration. Here, natural fibre turmeric roots photo-catalyst was prepared via green process and then studied the consequence of calcinations on its structural, optical and photo-catalytic properties. Overall analysis demonstrates that turmeric roots calcined at 800 °C acquires best photo-catalytic de-coloration efficiency and be endorsed as a novel eco-friendly photo-catalyst.
