Abstract

The effect of excess Ca 2CuO 3 on flux pinning in the (Bi,Pb) 2Sr 2Ca 2Cu 3O y (2223) was investigated through the measurements of A.C. susceptibility, critical current density and critical field. It was found that when the excess Ca 2CuO 3 is in the range between 0.1 M to 0.3 M the loss peak of A.C. susceptibility appeared at higher temperature than that for undoped sample and the J c and the Hc 2 showed a maximum, indicating that excess Ca 2CuO 3 enhanced the flux pinning.
