Abstract

Objective To investigate the efficacy and safety of budesonide atomization inhalation combined with azithromycin on chronic cough after Mycoplasma pneumoniae (MP) infection in children. Methods Eighty cases of chronic cough after MP infection admitted in the Second People’s Hospital of Datong from April 2016 to April 2018 were selected, and were divided into observation group and control group according to the random number table, with 40 cases in each group. The control group was treated with azithromycin alone, and the observation group was treated with budesonide suspension aerosol inhalation on the basis of the control group, and the curative effect, symptom improvement, MP infection rate and adverse reaction rate of the two groups were compared after 21d treatment. Results The total therapeutic effect in the observation group was higher than that in the control group, and the remission time of symptoms and signs was shorter than that in the control group. After treatment, the MP infection rate was lower than that in the control group, and the differences were significant (P 0.05). Conclusions The effect of aerosol inhalation of budesonide suspension combined with azithromycin on chronic cough in children with MP infection is better than that of azithromycin alone. The symptoms of cough and phlegm in children are better and faster relieved, MP clearance rate is high. Moreover combined use does not increase incidence of adverse reactions, which is safe and reliable.
