Abstract

The possible effects of break-up channels on fusion reactions in collisions induced by weakly-bound projectiles are discussed. In addition to the static effects due to variation in the potential following the extended density distributions, attention is devoted to dynamical effects due to coupling to reaction channels, in primis the break-up channels. The key issues and the still controversial open problems are discussed.
