Abstract

Abstract Two groups of six subjects were equated on the Balke-Ware Test. One group gave 500 cc of blood, the other group did not but believed it had. The treadmill test was repeated (a) immediately following, (b) 24 hr. after, and (c) seven days after the donation or supposed donation. There were no statistically significant changes in treadmill performance time. Recovery measures were difficult to interpret because of variability in work capacity from trial to trial.
