Abstract

Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of bilateral internal mammary artery coronary artery bypass grafting in patients with coronary heart disease and diabetes. Methods Eighty-one patients with coronary heart disease and diabetes mellitus were enrolled in our hospital. According to the patients' glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c) level, the HbA1c level of 40 patients in the experimental group 1 was >6.5%, and the HbA1c level of 41 patients in the experimental group 2 was ≤6.5%. Forty patients with coronary heart disease without diabetes were selected as control group. The surgical outcome and postoperative complication rate of the three groups were compared. Results There were no statistically significant differences in LVEF level, surgical success rate, perioperative mortality, and arterial occlusion rate among the three groups (P>0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in the incidence of incision complications between the control group and the experimental group 2 (P>0.05); the incidence of incision complications in the experimental group 1 was higher than that in the control group and the experimental group 2 (22.50% vs.2.50% vs.4.88%) (P<0.05). Conclusion The glycosylated hemoglobin level in patients with diabetic coronary heart disease is controlled within the normal range and does not increase the incidence of complications of bilateral internal mammary artery bypass grafting.
