Abstract

Objective To investigate the effect of the bibliotherapy on insight recovering.drug therapy compliance and recurrence in remitted schizophrenia patients.Method 120 schizophrenia patients were randomly divided into the study group and the control group,with 60 cases in each group.The control group were only treated with drugs and the study group were treated with drugs plus bibliotherapy.Compared after 8 weeks treatment and a one-year follow-up was carried out after their discharge from hospital.The clincal efficacy was evaluated by the-Brief Psychiatric Rating Scale(BPRS),the Insight and Treatment Attitude Questionnaire(ITAQ),drug therapy compliance,hospital day and recurrence.Results After treatment 8 weeks,the scale of BPRS of study group lower than that of control group(21.55±8.56 and 24.64±9.45).and the scale of ITAQ of study group higher than that of control group(10.10±4.81 and 8.49±5.12);compliance of study group was better than that of control group(totally compliance:75%and 51.7%,partly compliance:20.0%and 34.5%,none compliance:5.0%and 13.8%,P<0.01).At the end of 1 year,the scale of BPRS of study group lower than that of control group;the scale of ITAQ of study group higher than that of control group and compliance of study group was better than that of control group(totally compliance:63.3%and 36.2%,partly compliance:26.7%and 25.9%,none compliance:10.0%and 37.9%,P<0.01).The recurrence rate of study group was lower than that of control group.The average hospital day of study group was shorter than that of control group[(58±7)d and(76±18)d.P<0.01].Conclusion Bibliotherapy not only is beneficial to the treatment for schizophrenia patients.but also can makes shorter hospital day,lower of these patients the rate of recurrence.
