Abstract

The photoconductivity spectral response of CdO-P2O5 glasses of different compositions has been measured under different applied fields in the photon energy range 1.5–6.2 eV. A numerical technique has been employed to analyse the data. The optical band gap has been found to increase with the mol% of CdO whereas it appears to be independent of the applied field. These results do not agree with our previously published results where the optical band gap was deduced graphically. Our present results are considered to be more reliable because of the better reliability of the method of analysis.
