Abstract

AbstractThe coupling of strains to the superconducting order parameter leads to step anomalies in the elastic constants at the transition temperature. In a unconventional cubic superconductor a very specific step asymmetry of transverse (ex, kz)‐ and (ex, kz) c44‐modes may exist in an external field. It is due to a coupling of pseudoangular momentum of the condensate to rotational, antisymmetric strains which is genuine for a superconducting order parameter belonging to a representation with broken T‐invariance. This effect is calculated on the basis of a Ginzburg‐Landau approach and an estimate of its size is given.
