Abstract

The brain is important in maintaining glucose homeostasis and elevations in central insulin or glucose, as observed following a meal, suppress endogenous glucose production (EGP). We investigated whether a subcutaneous injection of haloperidol, a first generation antipsychotic, or olanzapine, a second generation antipsychotic, blunted the ability of central glucose to suppress EGP.
