Abstract

Cathodic and anodic polarization curves of potential-equilibrated porous anodic oxide films on Al have been determined in Cl − solutions at pH 0–3. For the h.e.r. high Tafel b values, 0·18–0·30 depending upon solution pH, were obtained. A minimum potential was also observed during cathodic polarization. The polarization characteristics did not depend significantly on the initial oxide film preparation method.
