Abstract

Ti-15Mo-9Ag (TM-9Ag) alloy was designed and prepared in order to produce a titanium alloy with low elastic modulus and excellent antibacterial properties. Anodic oxidation was used to surface modify and improve the surface bioactivity of TM-9Ag and the effect on the microstructure, corrosion resistance, antimicrobial properties and biocompatibility was investigated in an oxidation voltage range of 10–80 V. The results showed that TiO2, MoO2 and Ag2O were formed in the oxidized layer on TM-9Ag surface after the anodic oxidation. The antibacterial properties were evaluated by the plate counting method, and it was found that the antibacterial properties of the alloy were significantly improved, and the corrosion resistance was also enhanced. Cellular experiments showed that the anodic oxidized TM-9Ag alloys exhibited good cytocompatibility.
